Homes of Choice is a charitable trust with a vision to provide great homes, enabling choice, affordability and happiness for people with disabilities. We strive to be responsive and forward-thinking, and to be actively engaged with our clients in the pursuit of our key strategic objectives: to house people better, to house more people, and to grow and diversify. They endeavour to achieve this by working in partnership with people, their families and stakeholders, being innovative in their approach, and always acting with integrity. The Burbridge development is an example of collaboration between Oranga Tamariki, families and Spectrum Care to co-design and deliver better housing options for people in need. These homes are custom-built, multi-functional homes incorporating building design and technology to provide a range of environments in which highly trained support specialists can help stabilise a young person’s life, support them with goals and daily tasks, and enable transitions back home, into other stable environments or towards independence. The development of this transitional support and accommodation option exemplifies what can be achieved when funders, agencies, housing and support providers partner towards better life outcomes for people in need, and it is our hope that collaborations such as this become the benchmark rather than the exception. The Burbridge development is one of several developments Homes of Choice has in the pipeline over the next four years that will add an additional 150 placements for people with disabilities.
